Afsana Qader, DPM
Dr. Afsana Qader obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Buffalo and from Marist College. While attending Marist she received honors in the Alpha Chi National Honor Society and Sigma Zeta Science and Mathematics Honors Society. Dr. Qader worked as a medical technologist before deciding to pursue a career as a podiatric physician. She earned her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia. She then furthered her training by completing a three-year comprehensive podiatric medicine and surgical residency at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center (now known as Montefiore North), where she served as Chief Resident her final year.
Dr. Qader treats patients of all different ages and enjoys all aspects of podiatric medicine. She is an experienced physician who takes time to listen to her patients in order to formulate an individualized treatment plan. Her calm and disarming manner allows patients to feel relaxed and comfortable at each visit. Dr. Qader also treats patients at Michael Malotz skilled nursing facility and does house calls for patients who are homebound and are unable to see her at her office.
Dr. Qader is a member of several professional organizations, which include the American Podiatric Medical Association, the New York State Podiatric Medical Association, the American Academy of Sports Medicine, and the American Professional Wound Care Association. She is also an attending physician at St. John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, NY.
In her personal time Dr. Qader enjoys world travel, gardening, walking, and playing with her niece and nephews.
Dr. Howard Blank
Originally from New York, Dr. Blank attended the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Upon graduation, he went to Chicago to study surgery at North Lake Hospital of Illinois. Following residency he was employed by a big podiatry group in Buffalo, NY performing all of the surgeries for the group. He moved to Westchester in 1983 and established the Westchester Foot Care Center.
Dr. Blank is a highly qualified physician and surgeon (over 30 years of experience), trained in the latest techniques used to treat and prevent foot and ankle related disorders. He believes in educating patients so that they may understand their feet and will work with him toward a common goal of not just relieving their pain temporarily, but correcting their foot problem when possible. Dr. Blank is only available at Westchester Foot Care.
Les Vacarro, C. PED
Mr. Les Vaccaro has been in the shoe business for over 50 years. His father who had been in the shoe repair business since 1928 introduced him to his trade. Les opened up his own business, Buster Brown Heathcote Shoe Store, in 1959 in Scarsdale, NY. After obtaining his pedorthist certification in 1993 he changed the name of the shoe store and established Tru-Fit Shoes.
Les then partnered with Westchester Foot Care so that together they could provide a more comprehensive approach for the management and treatment of lower extremity pain and disorders. He currently provides durable medical equipment services in downtown New Rochelle through Westchester Foot Care. He is available on Tuesdays for consultations but also does house calls for debilitated homebound patients. He also services the Wartburg Nursing Home and Meadow View Assisted Living Facility.
Les was born and raised in Eastchester, NY. He has been married 53 years and has three children, six grandchildren, and a great grandson on the way. In his spare time he enjoys gardening and boating and gives as much of himself as he can to his community.
